“The Cross symbolizes God’s love for His creation. A vertical line – God’s activity – intersects the horizontal – God’s creation. God the Son, incarnate as the historical Jesus of Nazareth, unites Himself with us completely, including in our death, by dying upon the Cross. He rises and raises us with Himself. Thus it also becomes the symbol of the victory of good over evil and we make use of it to bless ourselves, each other and all the world.”
